Bid Submitted for the Port Mann/Highway 1 Project

The Port Mann/Highway 1 Project is part of British Columbia’s Gateway Program, which will improve roads and bridges throughout Greater Vancouver.

This CAN $2billion project involves widening Highway 1, building a new bridge at the Port Mann crossing, upgrading 17 interchanges and improving access and safety from McGill Street in Vancouver to 216th Street in Langley. A number of highway improvements include adding and improving a number of lanes connecting to the Port Mann Bridge, and the restoration of transit services across the bridge for first time in 20 years.

The scope of this project also includes the operation and maintenance of a specified corridor of Highway 1 for the full 40-year concession term, and includes the full management and maintenance of an electronic tolling system and the assumption of routine maintenance and lifecycle costs.

This project is anticipated to contribute more than CAN $800million to the provincial gross domestic product.

Operis provided financial model auditing services and a full tax and accounting review on behalf of the shortlisted consortia 'Highway 1 Transportation Group', which comprises Transurban, Bilfinger Berger and CPP Investment Board.
